High levels of career confidence
You might be forgiven for thinking that the ongoing economic uncertainty would mean that employees would be cautious about their career prospects. Yet our April 2008 survey shows that the credit crunch has failed to dent the confidence of nearly three quarters of UK office workers.
| How confident are you about your career prospects for 2008 compared to how you felt this time last year? | All | 16-24 | 25-34 | 35-44 | 45-54 | 55+ |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| I am more confident than I was | 26.2% | 44.1% | 37.5% | 26.7% | 16.2% | 14.8% |
| I am no more or less confident than I was | 46.3% | 37.3% | 36.4% | 45.9% | 52.1% | 50.8% |
| I am less confident than I was | 27.5% | 18.6% | 26.1% | 27.5% | 31.5% | 25.4% |
With this confidence comes a continued desire to change jobs with almost half (48%) of our respondents saying they plan to jump ship in 2008. This is in line with previous findings.
